My most embarrassing experience is probably when I fell off the dock whenever we were taking our oars out because I couldn’t see.

My favorite regatta was AYC II in Lake Lanier in 2022

I will miss seeing my teammates everyday.

Crew has taught me how to be resilient and how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Last years 3V Regionals races.

2022 Intrasquad, that banana boat was too tier.

What will you miss the most?
Talking to Clelia in the parking lot for an ungodly amount of time.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that the grind never stops.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience is placing 2nd in the men’s 2V8+ at Nationals in 2022.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing Crew experience is when I flipped an 8+ on the dock during summer camp.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was 2021 Head of the Charles. It was my first time rowing at the Head of the Charles in Boston.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss my teammates as well as my coaches whom feel more like family to me. I will also miss the fun we had on our away regattas.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to manage my time effectively and that hard work pays off.

Most memorable crew experience?
Definitely would be crossing the finish line at Youth Nationals placing 3rd in the U17 category. Realizing we had medaled in a boat that had brought me closer to my friends and made the end of my sophomore year amazing despite any troubles was a feeling I will never forget.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
While a small one it would probably be one from my freshman year. I was leaving the old site with another girl in a hurry as we had been doing something, I forget, while the rest of the team left. We passed the varsity girls team having a meeting and in our hurry I slipped and fell in a big puddle of mud. The varsity girls went silent and turned around to look at me. Covered in mud, I stood up quickly and walked away. It was horrible.

Favorite regatta?
This sounds crazy. OARS 2022. I remember it as being a cold day so it was easy to stay energized, the food tent food being perfect for the mood, and spending time with all of my friends. It was just a perfect normal regatta day.

What will you miss the most?
The people. I loved hanging out with my friends before practice, working hard with them, and having our parking lot talks afterwards that always brightened my day. I got to know so many amazing people through crew, whether they stayed rowing for all four years or only for one year, they made an impact on my life that I will always be thankful for.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew taught me how to stay motivated even during tough times. It also taught me to be more confident about myself. It taught me that I am able to build myself back up and do well after something hasn't been going my way. It showed me how my efforts can pay off.

Most memorable crew experience?
I was in the 3v at one of the AYC's in my sophomore year and we were in the same race as the 2v. During the race we almost beat them and we were all really happy with the race and after Abby came up to us in the launch and told me I rowed like I was 7 ft.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
I broke my oar at West Districts in the lightweight double and the picture Aworthy took and posted on her instagram went viral and got reposted onto other rowing instagram accounts.

Favorite regatta?
Sweep States 2021.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the friends that I have made here at Sarasota Crew and being able to see them everyday.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to be resilient and push through the hard times. Even when you keep on failing and feel like you're not getting anywhere, keep trying and don't give up and you will eventually be able to achieve your goals.

Most memorable crew experience?
Earning a bronze medal at Youth Nationals 2021 in the U17 8+. We had so much fun training in that boat the weeks leading up to nationals. The 9 of us had such a strong bond and worked incredibly well together. Having a podium finish was a culmination of all our hard work, and I'll never forget that feeling.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Getting screamed at by Coach Caitlynn for carrying 4 sculling oars at once as an 8th grader.

Favorite regatta?
Head of the Charles 2022. Traveling with the team is always such a blast, and the Charles venue is so amazing.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the atmosphere that the people at crew create. Even though rowing will still be apart of my life, it will never be the same as it was here. My teammates are so incredibly hard working and inspire me to be the best version of myself. I'll miss working alongside them everyday.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that there is always more to learn. Everyone has a different perspective to offer and insight to share. Being flexible, listening to those around you and widening your outlook is extremely beneficial. I've also learned to take bad days with a grain of salt. We have so many opportunities at crew, and while it is important to learn from failures, you should not dwell on them for too long.

Most memorable crew experience?
My freshman year Seabass told us that we had to run stairs but the person who finished last would have to run more. Before we even started I knew that I would be running extra. Then, Seabass told us that we was going to chase us the next time and if he caught you you would have to run more. Once again I knew I would be running extra. As I ran up, already excepting defeat, I head that Seabass had started running up the stairs and I looked behind me only to trip and fall. The next thing I knew Seabass had jumped over me and continued chasing the rest of the girls up the stairs. Embarrassingly, my friend Sophia was sitting at the bottom watching the whole thing, I can only imagine how it looked from her perspective.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
When I flipped an eight when I was in seventh grade. Dom Deniro suggested that while we were on the dock we take all of the oars out of the oarlocks to save time and naturally we flipped while attempting this. It was during one of the summer camps and most of the camp counselors decided to film it instead of come to our rescue.

Sweep States 2023.

Seeing my friends every day at practice

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me how to work hard and be a good teammate.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable crew experience was at the Head of the Charles 2022. Coach Casey let us roam the streets of Boston, with a curfew of course.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing crew experience was at Sculling States of 2021 in the time trial for the Junior 4x. During the race I caught a crab and the oar handle flew up and hit Julia in the head, almost concussing her.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was Sweep States 2021. The varsity girls squad swept the regatta and the support was overwhelming.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss my teammates the most. I could not ask for a more amazing group of people to have been by my side for the last 3 years.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew had taught me the importance of relationships with the people around me. It taught me how to be compassionate, aware, and versatile.

Most memorable crew experience?
Winning 2022 Southeast Regionals in the 4- to qualify for Nationals.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Flipping a 2- at Nathan Benderson with Danny during Summer Nats.

Sweep States 2022.

What will you miss the most?
The guys I trained with.

What has Crew taught you?
You can do more than you ever knew you were capable of and if you do hard things now, you can do hard things later.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience was during AYC 2 in 2022. Tyler Horler hurt his back, so late at night Weelo Ghamra, Ian Varga, and I formed an assembly line ironing small washcloths to heat Tyler’s back. Coach Maddux and Josh Wang were doing room checks and entered to the 3 of us fashioning makeshift heating pads and crying laughing, Tyler crying in pain from the burns, and all of us half-naked in our underwear and socks. I will never forget the disgust on Maddux’s face.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing experience is Casey’s most dreadful. It was 2022, and I was rowing a 4+ with Tyler, Brent, and Ian. We should have had a competent row, but it was so abysmal that Casey was forced to berate our technique, then send us in early. The feeling of losing a race pales to the defeat I felt when we docked our boat. Casey has continued to bring up that practice as the darkest stain on his coaching career.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was Youth Nationals of 2022. The night before trials, I was up late with a 102 fever, and the next day Tyler Horler was ill too. Regardless, we overcame our struggles and squeezed out a bronze medal, after a year of lackluster performances.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the all-encompassing brotherhood of the team. As an only child, having a group of guys that, every day, were dependable and by my side, has been a life-changing experience.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that I am in charge of my future and my success. Every day and every practice are an opportunity to progress toward my goals, and whether I meet those goals is up to me.

The Intrasquad Regatta.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Rowing at varsity practice my second day ever rowing.

The OARS Invitational.

What will you miss the most?
The long drive from Naples.

What has Crew taught you?
The will to push myself beyond my limits.

Most memorable crew experience?
Personally my most memorable experience was the semi-final day at Youth Nats in 2022. We had just came in 11th the day before in the time trial and we were only ranked 7th overall coming into the regatta. However, we were able to come together as an 8, even though we started this race down on the entire field off the line, we were able to sprint to a second place finish. Qualifying us for the A final- which we were able to come out of with a medal.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
One day in practice we broke our 8 into doubles, and I got to row a double with Tyler Horler (probably the fastest guy to come out of the program in the last few years). We ended up having the worst row ever, and we were significantly behind probably over a thousand meters behind the other boats.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was Youth Nationals 2021. This was the first time I experienced the true competition in the sport, and made me fall in love with rowing.

What will you miss the most?
I’ll definitely miss the Sarasota Crew community the most. I spend so much time with my teammates that I basically grew up with them as brothers, and have life long memories together. The coaches have also taught me so much not only about rowing but also about how to be a better person overall.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me the value of hard work. All you need to do to be good at the sport is to put in the work, and the rewards of doing so are amazing. You can accomplish tasks that seem impossible by grinding everyday.

Most memorable crew experience?
Spring Break training ‘23.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Casey pointing at me and saying, “You’re acting like a novice.”

Favorite regatta?
AYC 2 in Nashville, TN.

What will you miss the most?
Doing pieces alongside the boys.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that there is nothing to lose from going all in, but rather there is everything to gain from putting forth my best effort.

Most memorable crew experience?
Making Charles after being out for all of the previous spring season.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
When I went two lanes over in the U17 single at regionals and nearly hit the timing tower while Coach Harry was watching.

2021 Nationals.

What will you miss the most?
The running inside jokes on the team. 

What has Crew taught you?
To trust the process.

Most memorable crew experience?
May 2021- June 2021. The whole month and two weeks were a huge learning curve for myself as a sophomore. These weeks contain a lot of firsts for me, like my first time bowing a 4- and 2-, learning how to balance school/final exams with national practices, and rowing in the 4- (iykyk). Also, the whole experience of being in the U17 8+, from the 4x2ks to the moments leading up to our A final, would be something I would never forget.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
There are just too many.

Favorite regatta?
2021 USRowing Youth Nationals and Head of the Charles.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss our (long) post-practice parking lot debriefs, the collective bond over hard workouts and early mornings, our talks in the weight tent , the sunsets, and just being around my closest friends and making the dumbest jokes.

What has Crew taught you?
To be adaptable.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience was throwing coach Maddux in the water after 2022 Sweep States. I will definitely think of that moment every time I’m at Nathan Benderson park.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing Sarasota Crew experience was when I was in a straight four that mysteriously flipped.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was Head of The Charles 2021. It was my first time in Boston and despite only a few days of practice in the 4+, we were able to pull through with a good placement.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the long rows from the site and ripping chain on 2x25s with the lads.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that it doesn’t matter where you start, if you keep your head down and work as hard as you can every day, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable crew experience would have to be building a jet dock after a Saturday practice with the boys. It really showed me that this sport is all about the sacrifice and work that all members of the team have to put in order to succeed.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing moment was when I flipped a single at Districts last year in front of all the stake boat holders and Seabass.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was AYC 1 this year because it was my first competitive race and I remember feeling excited to compete against some big competition. The conditions were great and the cheers from the Sarasota Crew tent and other teammates as we went down the course were surreal.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the camaraderie amongst the guys on the team. All of the tough erg pieces were endured as a team, which only strengthened our bond. Lastly, I cannot forget the parking lot filibusters. I will miss those.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that having a plan and sticking to it will always pay off in the end. Whether it is on the erg, the water, or at school, consistency and hard work will always yield results.

Most memorable crew experience?
The Head of the 941 regatta in 2021 was one of my favorite memories at crew. The mixed boy and girls 8 was such a fun race to be a part of.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
When I was launching off the dock right before my Sculling States final, I put my feet in the shoes and feel something in my shoe, so I take my foot out a huge frog jumps out of my shoe and up my leg. I shrieked so loudly and all the other boats and officials were looking at me.

Favorite regatta?
Sweep States 2021.

What will you miss the most?
Laughing everyday at practice during the lifts.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me a lot about building myself back up again after facing a bunch of setbacks. It’s always hard to come back from a rough couple of seasons but watching myself make tremendous strides physically and mentally has made me extremely proud of myself. I learned a lot throughout my few years at Crew and I will definitely be taking all the lessons I have learned with me to college and beyond.

Falling off the dock (in front of everyone) onto the boat and having a huge bruise.

What will you miss the most?
Having the most fun 4 years with the largest family that has been there for me in the good and the bad.

Crew has taught me the importance of confidence and perseverance. I have learned what it takes to fully commit to something and I will use that for the rest of my life.

Winning the 1V at States 2022, and THAT semifinal at Nationals 2022. Crew KBBQs were sick too.

Crashing in front of thousands at 2021 Head of the Charles.

What will you miss the most?
Growing up and improving as a team. No matter how early or late we joined crew, we all grew as people and formed brotherlike bonds with our teammates. We all learned to love and respect each other, and unite in pursuit of greatness. #jobsnotfinished
