Most memorable crew experience?
When I was in seventh grade I was entered in a single race at the "Benderson Chase Regatta". It took me 59:56 to do a 5k around that lake. I talked to an official in a launch the whole time and proceeded to get stuck in the giant yellow buoys and Coach Whitney had to pull me out. I got a medal for that race, 3rd/3rd.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Every time I flipped in a quad. (Three times)

Favorite regatta?
Sweep States 2019 and 2021

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the time before practice everyday. People erging, getting ready for practice to start, getting oars and launches down. The little moments before and after practice is what I will really miss the most.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to keep coming back. Life is going to get hard in or out of crew, and it's important to persevere through the hard times. The life lessons I have learned through my seven years with this team are lessons I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Most memorable crew experience?
Winning Sweep States in 2018 in the Freshman B8+. It was the first time I had rowed in the same boat for a full season and became such good friends with the people in the boat.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Coming back from a season off and on the second day on the water, in an 8+, catching a crab that bent the rigger.

Intrasquad

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the camaraderie and friendship amongst the team most.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that hard work pays off and is worth it. I have also learned how to be focused, efficient, and how to manage my time well with both crew and school.

Most memorable crew experience?
As a Freshman in 2019, we were doing stairs at Benderson. Coach Seabass claimed we weren’t doing them fast enough, and ordered us to do one more but said if he passed us on the way up we had to do another one. I watched him trample my friend Lily first, then others, but kept running. Another girl and I were the only ones who made it.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
I was racing a single at Head of the Hog and my oar locks came out of the boat 3k into the 6k race. Somehow I did not flip and I sat there for 15 minutes trying to wave down a launch while many other racers passed by. Seabass found me trying to hang on and had to drive my boat and I back to land.

Favorite regatta?
States ‘19 and HOCR ‘21

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the people I have met this year and grown up with. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend my time at Sarasota Crew with such amazing people and am thankful for all that they have taught me and all the memories we have made.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me many things including grit, resilience, teamwork, and how to turn a bad day into a good one. Most importantly, I have found confidence in myself, which is something I felt I lacked. Most of all, I learned that hard work truly pays off.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable experiences on the team have been all the great times I've had with my guys throughout the years at races. Every single regatta has had its own set of so many distinct stories and hilarious moments that I could never pinpoint just one. Being a part of the team as it shifts throughout the years yet still keep its culture and core has been so memorable.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
This would be a very long list for me, but I think the most embarrassing experience I've had was one of the singles trials I flipped in my sophomore year. After flipping halfway through the course, I was too tired to climb in so I flopped around in the water trying to throw myself into the boat in while covering myself in cuts and scratches. After about 30 minutes of hopelessly struggling in the water, Coach Caitlynn finally came and fished me out of the water, and I looked like a complete fool.

What will you miss the most?
I will definitely miss the culture here and all my friends on the team the most, you guys mean so much to me and truly make all the pain worth it. The people and culture they help bring to the team makes Sarasota Crew what it is. I've laughed with and worked myself to exhaustion with this team and it has created a special bond.

What Crew taught you?
Above all else, crew has taught to never stop working to achieve my dreams and to value failure more than success. Anything can be achieved through enough willpower and hard work.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience was a long 32K row in the varsity quad my junior year. It was a Saturday morning row just after it stopped raining so it was cool out and the water was flat. We were out on the water with Casey and the Olympic Womens Lightweight 2x. It was my favorite row that year and we went the farthest south Casey has gone with a boat before. Afterwards we all went to Ginza for some sushi to cap off the morning.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing Sarasota Crew experience happened my freshman year. I took the bus from Pine View to Crew, so I waited until 4pm everyday to go. I packed everything I needed for crew in my school bag so when it was time, I could change into my uni before practice. I had just got my 1st ever uni from the bargain bin and I thought it was the coolest thing ever so I decided to put it on and fully uni up while at school, wearing nothing else. I walked around like this until the bus came and picked me up, receiving many weird looks from my classmates as they gazed upon my skinny freshman body.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was AYC 2 at Clemson my freshman year. I loved the racecourse and the campus and had a great time. That regatta is where I was taught by a senior how to properly strap down a boat.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the comradery between the guys on the team. Whether its a yell of encouragement on the erg or water or seeing my teammates push me in the weight tent to go farther than I thought I could, the people are what I will miss the most and all the memories I have with them.

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me not only how to be a better rower and student, but a better person as-well. Before crew I had no real ambitions and did not try in school or any other facets of my life, but being surrounded by hard working, driven people has allowed me to grow as a person and reach places I didn't think within my reach.

Most memorable crew experience?
2019 Sweep States in the Freshman Second 8. Throughout April, there was an incredible amount of disconnect between each rower's expectations for that race. But I remember sitting with my pair partner at a Taco Bell and we were like, where are we going to end up at the end of this month? How do we ensure it is where we want to be? After that Saturday, we talked to everyone, and we all went hard on stairs, c-blocks, and pieces for the rest of the season – I think my time in the Second Freshman 8 was so memorable because although we weren’t necessarily fast we felt united and capable.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
At 2021 Halloween Regatta the Men's Varsity 4 passed me during my 4000m singles race … their start time was 6 minutes after mine… honestly I wasn’t embarrassed I was just like “bye.” Honestly, there are many more this was just one of the most recent.

Favorite regatta?
Intrasquad 2018, 2019, and 2021 — I love the way Intrasquad breaks the barriers between athletes of different speeds and dedication levels, allowing for a regatta that is free of pressure and filled with energy, creativity, and community building.

What will you miss the most?
The natural support network that develops after days, weeks, and months of training and achieving alongside the same group of people. During all four years of high school I considered permanently leaving because of how much time being part of the team requires. However, I stayed because there is something incredibly rewarding and exciting about forming relationships with teammates and encouraging each other to realize our personal and collective goals. I’ll miss the ease with which I formed those friendships and developed that support network.

What has Crew taught you?
I don’t have a lot of courage. When I’m on a run, starting a piece, entering a race, or checking the sheet, I always feel as though I’m unable to accomplish the task at hand, as though I am a person without enough power or potential. Crew taught me to attack those fears because in this sport I am not alone, my inactions affect others. I derive the courage to finish a run, complete a piece, give my all to a race, or accomplish the tasks on the sheet from my teammates, from the fact that this sport requires every person in a boat to want the boat to succeed for the boat to succeed.

Winning Sweep States my 8th grade year in the freshman 8+.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Not making weight for the lightweight 2x at Sculling States. Still haunts me to this day.

What will you miss the most?
The fellas.

What Crew taught you?
Hard work has merit.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable experience was my quad in 9th grade at the OKC Regatta. I had moved up that fall from novice and went to this as my first regatta in varsity. Once we had gotten the lineups, I saw that coach Caitlynn has put me in bow of a quad.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing moment would be 8th grade year when I got a black eye from running head first into a single. I was told by Hugo that I needed to hurry down to the dock to catch a boat. In wanting to be as helpful as I could, I decided to run down as fast as I could Without paying attention to where I was going, I ran eye first into the bow ball of a varsity girls single. They asked if I was ok but I just continued running down to get the boat.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta would be the okc regatta. It is a very fun course and low pressure because of how early in the year it is. It is also the only regatta that we go to that has 250m night sprints at 10:30 pm which is a really fun experience and great team bonding.

What will you miss the most?
I think what I’ll miss the most are just the day-to-day practices. I will not be rowing in college so after nationals this year I probably won’t get into a boat again until I rent or buy one myself.

What had Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me how to repair boats and make sure they are in perfect race condition at all times. Through watching Casey and Seabass fix problems on boats, I have been able to replicate it and now think that with a bag with all the pieces I could put a boat together from a bare shell. It has also taught me to never let someone borrow your wrench because at that point it is no longer yours but now theirs.

Most memorable crew experience?
Placing 3rd at Sculling States 2019 in the double.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
I was a coxswain during my freshman year and on one Saturday morning Coach Caitlynn brings me on her launch and asks me to watch the singles trials of the Varsity boys. I didn't know what a singles trial was so I didn't know what to do when she started saying names and times to me. After a couple names, I figured out that I had to record them as results so I had to make up a few.

Favorite regatta?
Head of the Charles Regatta 2021.

What will you miss the most?
My friends and experiences we all shared together, in and outside of practice. And the BlueMax.

What had Crew taught you?
Efficiency and time management are key to achieving your goals.

Most memorable crew experience?
My first ever regatta, regionals in 2017 when Julian Lifton steered our 8 straight into the adjacent boat in the first 10 seconds of the race.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
AYC 1 2022, I was stroking a coxed 4. I missed the first stroke right off the start, causing us to veer left into that metal pole on the starting line.

Favorite regatta?
Head of the Charles 2021.

What will you miss the most?
Bus rides coming back from overnight regattas.

What has Crew taught you?
You get out what you put in.

Most memorable crew experience?
Going to the Head of the Charles last year was my most memorable Sarasota Crew experience. The course was challenging, we had the opportunity to race against crews from all over the country, and it allowed me to grow closer to my team.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing Sarasota Crew experience was when I called a start in the middle of my race at AYC in Clemson.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta is Sweep States. I love racing this regatta since it is something the team has dedicated their whole season training for.

What will you miss the most?
The people. I have made some of my best friends here and will miss rowing with them every day.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to trust the process, to stay resilient and hardworking, and to always keep improving my skills.

Most memorable crew experience?
Having a manifestation ritual with my boat the night before finals at Sculling States and it working.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
I can't think of one.

What will you miss the most?
Having such a huge and supportive group of teammates.

What has Crew taught you?
You get out what you put in.

Most memorable crew experience?
Getting 4th place in the A final of the Men's Varsity 8+ at Youth Nationals last year. It was very special to me because it was my first highly competitive regatta on a big stage. The weeks leading up to the race and all the hard work that was put in really made that whole experience one I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
I would say it would have to be when the v8 was going over power curves from the Peach System. Casey told me that he once ran a seminar about what power curves are supposed to look like. He would show the correct curve and one he deemed physically impossible. That day we reviewed the v8 power curves he told me that I was the first person to prove him wrong because I had a curve he thought was impossible to achieve (in a bad way).

Favorite regatta?
AYC II last season when the v8 broke 6 minutes for the first time that year.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss my teammates who I train with everyday and the mutual trust and friendship we developed.

What Crew taught you?
It has taught me the importance of being a part of the team, achieving tasks with purpose, and putting my all into everything I do at practice, in school, and on a daily basis in other areas of my life.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience is winning the lightweight 4- at sweep states last year. It was a super competitive race that felt so rewarding to win and see our hard work pay off.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Sending Coach Abbie an email with absolutely no correct grammar in it and her calling me out in front of everyone. Let’s just say I never made that mistake again (I think).

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta is Regionals in Oakridge, Tennessee because that course is so pretty and the whole trip was so much fun. Everybody got closer and we also placed really well!!

What will you miss the most?
I will miss looking forward to seeing my best friends every day after school:( We all have so much fun together and the bond our close-knit team grows every day is something I will never forget!!!

What has Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me so many things, but some of my favorites are that hard work does pay off. You might sometimes feel like you’re putting your all into something and not getting enough back, but in time that hard work and dedication will speak for itself! I’ve also learned that one of the most important aspects of life is knowing who to surround yourself with. There is no better group of individuals to grow up with than the athletes Sarasota Crew brings up and each day I am reminded of that!

Most memorable crew experience?
Winning a silver metal in the lightweight 8 at Youth Nationals as a freshman. We were in 5th place all race and when the last 500m came, I had a smile on my face as I knew the whole boat had a crazy sprint ready. We walked all the way back into 2nd place.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
At OKC night sprints regatta sophomore year, I was rushing to make a doubles race. As I was speed walking my boat down the dock, I took one wrong step and fell in the water in front of many people. I still held the boat up from in the water and we ended up winning that (very wet and cold) race.

Favorite regatta?
Head of the Charles 2019

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the boys the most. The only thing that keeps me and a lot of the boys getting to practice everyday is the bond that we built together.

What has Crew taught you?
How to deal with pressure and sacrifice. Whether it means mentally preparing yourselves for a big erg test or race, or sacrificing every Friday night for recovery, Crew has taught me how to put myself aside for a common goal.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience was when stopped at Buc-ees on the bus ride home for AYC2. We all spent at least 30 minutes getting food and Buc-ees merch.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing Sarasota Crew experience is definitely when the top nut on our double broke at AYC2. Chloe had to row back to the launch docks all by herself, and they beeped the finish horn for us when we towed through the finish line so it looked like we were actually racing.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was this year’s Sculling States.

What will you miss the most?
My teammates and coaches are going to be something that I’ll miss most from rowing!

What has Crew taught you?
The most important thing that Crew has taught me is that hard work and determination pays off.
