Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable crew experience would have to be the beginning of the final race at States for the freshman 8, it was the first big race that I had specifically trained for and within the first ten strokes we were able to get ahead of all of the other boats, and stay ahead, winning the state championships.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing crew experience would have be rowing my boat back at the dock after flipping my boat at sculling states, as I was rowing to the dock a spectator thought I was winning and he started cheering me on, I definitely wasn’t winning.

Regionals at Oakridge, Tennessee in 2019

What will you miss the most?
I think I will miss being able to see my friends that I’ve made over time at crew.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to be able to adapt to new situations and make the best out of bad conditions.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience has to be getting third at nationals in the women's lightweight 8. This race was proof that hard work pays off and that you need to keep trying harder even when giving up seems so easy. I will be grateful for the experiences and memories I made in this boat for the rest of my life.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Out of the many embarrassing moments I have to choose from, my most embarrassing moment is during my eighth-grade year, I was hit in the head by another boat during a race about a week after surgery to remove spinal fluid from my head. I kept passing out throughout the rest of the race. To add to this, the freshman eight happened to be rowing in the boat "The Giving Challenge 2016" which was the women's 1V boat at the time. Once Monday came, I had to face the angry girls 1v because of their scratched boat. Luckily, a few of the rowers who saw it happen came to my defense and explained that it was not my fault.

Favorite regatta?
Regionals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee will always hold a special place in my heart.

What will you miss the most?
During my seven years at Sarasota Crew, the relationships I have made with my teammates are unbreakable. I have created a second family here. Leaving the people I love the most is going to be heartbreaking. I will miss the people I grew up with and their impact on my life. The love I was shown over the years will forever be in my heart.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me how important it is to be confident in yourself. A lack of self-confidence will negatively impact what happens around you. The first thing you need to do to be successful is to believe in yourself.

Most memorable crew experience?
Going out in singles with the shift groups when covid first started is my most memorable experience because it felt a lot more individual and I ended up interacting closely with people I probably would not have talked to usually. I also learned a lot about myself as a rower because of the long erg pieces and going out in singles every day.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
When I was a coxswain in October of my freshman year and I ended up coxing the freshman c boat at halloween regatta.

Favorite regatta?
Regionals in Oak Ridge, TN. In my opinion, it's one of the prettiest race courses we've been at, even though it rained the whole time.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss away regattas the most because they helped bring everyone closer together as a team.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to persevere through adversity. I have also learned to be more independent and responsible.

Most memorable crew experience?
I will never forget the time we flooded an eight. All at once, the wind and rain picked up and waves came over the sides of the boat until the water was up to our waist. There were many emotions, but we all worked together and got back to the dock safely.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
I had just got my driver’s license that week and, in all honesty, I did not completely know what I was doing. At the time, I thought I could make a U-turn on a red light as long as it’s clear. Apparently, that is illegal. Coach Kaitlyn made sure to point that out to me while in front of the other coaches.

Favorite regatta?
U17 Nationals 2019 and AYC II 2020 are my favorites. A lot of great memories training in singles and visiting Philly for U17 Nats. At AYC II, I was in both the Light 4+ and Light 8+ and had a great race in each. I was really looking forward to racing either lineup at Nationals if it had not been canceled due to COVID.

What will you miss the most?
My teammates and their constant support whether I have just met them this year, or have known them for six.

What Crew taught you?
To keep fighting. No one moment will define your success. If something does not go your way, come back from it stronger than ever.

Most memorable crew experience?
Placing second at the 2019 Youth National Championship. We walked from fifth place to second in the last 750m of the race...the notorious lightweight 8 sprint.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing moment at Sarasota Crew was when I was training for the u18 double for Canadian Henley. We were practicing on the course the day before the race doing starts with all of our competitors around. Owen Corr and I missed water on the first stroke and flipped. We went on to win the event.

Favorite regatta?
Head of the Charles

What will you miss the most?
My teammates, friends, and those that have been there through blood, sweat, and tears. I will miss the camaraderie of racing and working out together while being able to come up with jokes that you laugh so hard you can’t breath.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me what true hard work is and what it takes to succeed. They say grit cannot be taught, but I think Crew has taught me to be resilient, gritty, and mature. Above all things, Crew has taught me how to be a great teammate and a leader.

Most memorable crew experience?
Probably seat racing and making jokes at practice.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My fist 6k trial in a single I beached twice and Angela passed me in the fist 2000 meters.

What will you miss the most?
My buddies.

Rowing for Crew has taught me discipline and conscientiousness.

Breaking 6 at AYC II in the eight for the first time.

Most memorable crew experience?
It was so rewarding to medal at Head of the Charles in 2019 in the Women's Youth 8+. There were over 80 entries, and we placed 4th! I had coxed that boat in 2018 and we got 10th, so it was really uplifting for us to have improved by so much and accomplish our goal to medal.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
In the Men's 1V8+ race at Head of the Hog in fall 2020, we were flying around the turn underneath the Benderson bridges, and my speedcoach strap on Logan's rigger broke! My speedcoach went flying back into the water. Logan and I were so stunned and shocked, but we had to refocus on winning the race. After we got back on land, I waded into the water and was able to get my speedcoach back.

Favorite regatta?
I will always love Youth Nationals 2019, we placed 2nd in the Men's Lightweight 8+, after passing 3 boats during the last 1k of the A final.

What will you miss the most?
I am so grateful for the many friendships and memories I have made at Sarasota Crew over the past eight years. It was really wonderful growing up with you all, and this team brought me my closest friends.

What Crew taught you?
Sarasota Crew taught me to be resilient. Coxswains have so many responsibilities to manage, and I am still here today because I bounced back after every mistake.

Most memorable crew experience?
Winning the Freshmen 8+. Going into that race we were expecting our competition to take us off the start, but instead we gained ground on them instantly and won by open-water.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Rowing the cursed Freshman 4+. The row was so bad that the whole boat was just laughing throughout the race and even stopped rowing 100 meters before the finish line.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was 2019 Nationals. The feeling of medaling at such a prestigious event is one of the best feelings I have ever felt.

What will you miss the most?
The relationship and chemistry of the team as a whole. I would be honored to call everyone on the men’s team my brother.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that if I have a goal that I want to achieve, I will put in the work to attain it.

Most memorable crew experience?
When I got 2nd place in the light single at Sculling States 2019. I had had a disappointing spring season, so it felt so good to be able to prove that I was capable of getting results and going fast.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Peeing myself on a 2k sophomore year. At least I broke 7.

Sweep States 2018

What will you miss the most?
All of the people, the bay, and the sunset rows. And the warm weather all year long.

What Crew taught you?
To respect myself and what I am capable of. Also to trust the process and those around me.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable experience was from 2019 Youth Nationals. In the Women’s Lightweight 8+, with 8 of my best friends, just pulling for each other. Honestly, I went into the experience, just happy to qualify. Though, I learned that through hard work, dedication, trust, and tenacity, we could achieve much higher goals. As a boat, we decided to push and support each other. From our hard work, we ended up getting third, and it was great to get a tangible reward for all our hard work. While the medal was nice, I am so lucky to have had that experience where people truly worked together as a singular unit. I found that I loved that feeling. I loved knowing people had my back, and I had theirs.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
It was the day before 2019 Sweep States. Us athletes were given an easy, low-impact run to prepare for the race. Two people from my boat, the 2V, asked my best and most competitive friend, Cecelia Plass, to race one another. Of course, we agreed. So, we decided to start at the top of the Benderson Island. The plan was to run down the asphalt hill, and the first to finish won. We got ready and went down the hill. Only I kept going and going until my knee, hip, thigh, and right palm went into the asphalt. In the end, I had to race states with bandages on my knee, hip, arm, and hand. This is the worst part, I had to keep my hand bandages on, so I wore a glove. Still not sure it was completely legal, but it got the job done. We still got first, but I will never live it down.

Favorite regatta?
2019 Southeast Youth Regionals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. It was just the most fun I had in a weekend. There was excitement from the race, but also spent the entire weekend with my best friends. Plus, the venue in Oak Ridge was incredibly beautiful. This was my first travel regatta, and I had so much fun. I have never felt closer to my teammates.

What will you miss the most?
I will most definitely miss the people at crew. No where in my life have I found so many hardworking, intelligent, caring, and tenacious people. I will miss laughing, cheering, and growing with them every day. This is the first sport where there is a real team, people truly working together. I will miss seeing everyone every day.

What Crew taught you?
Honestly, I started rowing to find a way to just be fit. However, I found that I thrived here. I have learned a lot. I think the biggest thing that I will carry for the rest of my life is that hard work put in directly correlates to results. The hard work I put into my fitness, my technique, and my responsibilities as Captain, directly correlated to the results I wanted and allowed my goals to be reached. I will also remember that we are stronger together, then apart.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable Sarasota Crew experience is most definitely the Sweep State Championship of 2017. My 8th grade year, I had earned a seat in the Freshmen 8+, and we had just finished our Saturday racing for finals on Sunday. Our coaches, Rosa and Whitney, had gathered us for a boat meeting, essentially telling us that although today our results were successful, tomorrow we should not be expecting such a victory. Our boat decided that night, that we were solely committed to proving them wrong. That race is when I truly fell in love with the sport. I trusted every girl in that boat to pull their weight and cross that line first. And that's just what we did.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Although I could name several, there is one experience that certainly takes the cake. My freshmen year, my teammate Abigail and I were chosen to row the Women's Youth 2x at Southeast Regionals. We had gone out to practice several times the week prior, however, after one morning practice, things went differently. We had docked at Benderson, ready to carry the boat back to the trailer, and I called for us to pick the boat up out of the water. It's important to mention that it was particularly windy, and as Abby stood her ground, my end of the boat began to fly in the gust that hit the dock, myself along with it. So we returned to our teammates; Abby completely dry, and myself soaking wet, creating confusion among the coaches who hadn't witnessed the "incident".

My favorite regatta was the Sculling State Championship 2018

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the environment of friendly competition, where everyone continues to push each other's limits, and you have the opportunity to become better every day. I will miss finishing up loading the trailer on regatta days, and that feeling of exhaustion as we settle in to one of Casey's speeches. And without a doubt, I will miss the people I have met along the way. For my friends, I will be forever grateful, and I can't think of any better people to go through the pain of a hard workout with.

What Crew taught you?
Most of life revolves around Sarasota Crew, and the lessons I have learned are irreplaceable. I have learned how to communicate in a respectful manner my concerns. I have learned the importance of being a graceful loser. I think the most significant phrase that has stuck with me is, "When you win, you win, when you lose, you learn". And Sarasota Crew has done an amazing job of celebrating young athletes in their successes, as well as their growth opportunities.

To be resilient in your efforts to succeed despite obstacles blocking your way, because that hard work will ultimately pay off in the end.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable experience would be winning states in the 4v8 my first year rowing as a Varsity athlete. I didn't know that it was an expectation until I saw that we won nearly every state event.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Racing a four with a backwards oar and backstay. Not only that, but it also took me 5 minutes before our race while we were warming up to realize.

Favorite regatta?
I think that Regionals in Oak Ridge is always a good time. I like the feeling of being away from home, but not for too long, and the length of the regatta is normally just right there.

What will you miss the most?
I will always miss the Sarasota weather (when it is NOT 89º out), and rowing in the mornings when the Sarasota Bay turns into Sarasota Lake.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to learn from anything anyone says. When you are having your worst day as a rower, it is so easy to get disappointed in yourself when people are telling you how you are potentially off-setting the whole boat. When you start making changes, however, it is so easy to look past these days and realize that you have made yourself a better rower.

My most memorable experience with the team was probably my first time back in a boat after my accident sophomore year. At the time I had been out of commission for the better part of four months, so to finally return to the sport i held so close felt rewarding.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Junior year, Suchir Push-ups, every time I would say something out of context, Coach Caitlynn would make the entire varsity boys team, with me as an exception, do a single push-up for each word I said.

2019 Southeast Regional Championships @ Oak Ridge, TN

What will you miss the most?
I will 100% miss the rows and the ergs the most. The competition for boat placement, and grinding out on the ergs with the team, It kept us competitive and always striving for more.

What Crew taught you?
Rowing for Sarasota Crew has taught me that nothing is impossible to achieve without hard work. All progress made, all achievement, is the result of the amount of work one puts in.

Most memorable crew experience?
Having the shell fill up with water when we were rowing in the middle of a storm. All the waves were crashing over the hull and Sam and i were just laughing the whole time because we couldn’t see, or at least I couldn’t see, because I had sunscreen running to my eyes. I think there’s a picture of the girls boat completely underwater.

My most memorable crew experience was placing third in the lightweight eight at 2019 Youth Nationals. The way our boat came together and worked towards the immense goal was truly incredible. Most embarrassing crew experience?
I was part of the quad in middle school that flipped in the basin. Usually quads never flip, but somehow while doing positive negative drills in white caps we all caught diggers and flipped.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was Head of the Charles 2019. Not only did we medal fourth in the women's varsity eight, but I had the most amazing time with my teammates in Boston.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss my teammates so so much. Sarasota Crew has been like a second family, where joy and despair, tears and laughter, and accomplishment and failure were all shared. I will miss the parking lot talks with my closest teammates, and of course I will miss the constant sarcasm and jokes of Coach Casey. "Yes, Casey the sky is falling." -Cece with 2 e's.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that sometimes hardwork doesn't pay off right away. You have to stay the course and be patient, as the finish line will come. The process may be rough and unfair at times, but lock in and remember why you love it.

The day we sunk eights in the rain.

The struggle of putting oars in racks embarrassed me every day.

Favorite regatta?
Inter-squad 2019 because it showed me how much fun I could have with my team.

Having my teammates to constantly lift me up no matter how bad my day was.

Winning the Freshman 8 and then getting to go to Nationals later that year.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Coach Caitlynn calling Tyler and I clowns because we were trying to learn the Renegade, a TikTok dance.

Favorite regatta?
Nationals 2019, so much preparation went into the regatta, but it was all with some of my best friends. It was great to see our work pay off, but we were able to enjoy the process along the way. It was so much fun training and preparing for the regatta, ice bathing at Kadens, beating the V8, 4 by 2k, biking in the weight tent the day before finals, and many other things made the regatta super enjoyable.

What will you miss the most?
A lot of things, Moe's Mondays, sweaty heavy lifts in the tenting, c-blocks, workdays, the list goes on. But I will miss the people the most, I have met so many amazing and interesting people that have affected my life. The friends I have gained have become a family to me and I will miss them so much.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me the value of hard work and determination. How to be completely dedicated to one goal. How to be a competitor. How to become part of something bigger than yourself.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable experience was at FSRA Sweep States in 2017. My boat, the freshman 8+, just got off the water after our race on Saturday and we were having our boat meeting with Coach Rosa. In the meeting she said that we were not going to win finals. This motivated our boat, so we showed up on Sunday and won the race.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Jordan and I were picking our double up out of the water, when it was taken by the wind and blown into the water. Jordan fell into the water with the boat, while I was just standing on the dock confused.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was FSRA Sweep States in 2017.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss getting through the tough workouts alongside my teammates and best friends.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me how to be a good teammate and friend, act as a leader, be more confident in myself, and countless other things.

Most memorable crew experience?
Playing soccer with the varsity girls during spring break.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Probably one of the multiple times I have fallen on the dock. I don’t think I could pick just one.

My first AYC

What will you miss the most?
I will miss having a group of like-minded people all working to complete a central goal.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me perseverance and the value of hard work. Through Crew, I was able to become far more self sufficient and confident in my own abilities which will undoubtedly lead to success in the future.

My most memorable experience at Sarasota Crew was when I went to the small boats camp in November 2019.

My most embarrassing Sarasota Crew experience was when we hit our four after starting our race at my first regatta.

My favorite regatta was Intersquad 2020

I will miss the environment and having a large team.

Crew has taught me to stay motivated and driven in order to reach my full potential.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable experience at Crew was the DeLand 2020 Regatta where it was my first time racing. I was in a novice boat and we got first place! It was a great feeling. (Even though the water was AWFUL!)

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing Sarasota Crew moment was crossing 4 lanes in a single in the quarterfinals of the Intrasquad Race.

Favorite regatta?
2020 Intrasquad Race

What will you miss the most?
I will miss some of my teammates and being apart of a team sport. I haven't been rowing for long, but I really feel like rowing has shown me what being in the ultimate team sport is like. I will also miss the coaches. Every single one has motivated me and saw the potential in me even though many of my teammates have been doing it longer than me.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that if you set goals and work hard, that you can achieve them. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. Never to be afraid of the outcome and always find room to improve.
