Sarasota Crew has a goal to make rowing accessible to all Sarasota youth regardless of their financial situation. Rowing is the vehicle Sarasota Crew uses to develop youth into student-athletes who through their personal development acquire the self-esteem, athleticism, discipline and confidence to be more successful in school and in life. We know that all youth will benefit from this positive developmental experience. In an effort to encourage underserved youth in Sarasota County to participate in rowing we are partnering with several youth development organizations in Sarasota including Take Stock in Children, Brothers and Sisters Doing the Right Thing, Boys & Girls Clubs and several others to identify and recruit children that would benefit from our program and to provide scholarships and transportation to make our program available to all at-risk youth in Sarasota.
We offer scholarships, based on demonstrable need via an application process, which covers all or a portion of the tuition. Year after year, scholarships account for approximately 15% of our High School Tuition income. Our goal is to increase scholarship funding and to collaborate with more local organizations to make rowing accessible to interested youth.
Sarasota Crew is very thankful for the generous grant support we have received from the following foundations to assist in supporting local youth with tuition assistance and scholarships.
The Bernard Mildred Doyle Charitable Foundation
The Eluned and Edward Russell Charitable Foundation
The William Donner Foundation
The Annette Hagens Foundation
