High School at Nathan Benderson Park

Who/When/Where/Cost 2024- 2025 Fall Season Registration Open Now! (see below)

  • Grades: 8th through 12th - No Experience Needed! (8th graders can row with our middle school program or high school program)

    • 8th graders are welcome to do a 2-week trial period with our novice team. At the end of the two weeks, the coaches and athlete will decide together if the Novice team or the Middle School program will be the best fit. 

  • Fall Season 2024 Trial: Tuesday and Thursdays 4:00-7:00 pm from August 13 - September 26. A great chance to try it out before committing for the racing season!

  • Fall Regular Season 2024 Novice Team: September 30 - December 14th, Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4:00-7:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30-11:30 am.
  • Location: 5851 Nathan Benderson Cir, Sarasota, FL 34235 (the big tent!)

 *Athlete physicals must be turned in before the first day of practice

  • Fall Race Fees: Fall race fees will be announced and will be due at the beginning of September. Fall race fees in total should be less than $500. The race fee will cover entry fees, athlete transportation, boat transport, and housing when needed for the following races:

    • Benderson Chase, Sarasota, FL - October 12th - 13th 

    • Halloween Regatta, Tampa, FL - October 26th

    • Plant High Winter Sprints, Tampa, FL - December 7th

    • Sarasota Crew Intrasquad Regatta, Sarasota, FL - December 14th

 

Spring Season 2025: January 6th through May 11th 

  • Location: Nathan Benderson Park, 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota, FL 34235.

    • Teams meet by boat trailers and large white arched tent 
  • Spring Race Fees: Spring race fees TBD. The race fee will cover entry fees, transportation, boat transport, and housing when needed.

    • *FSRA Sculling State Championships, Nathan Benderson Park, April 12-13 (charged separately only for rowers who are attending)

    • *FSRA Sweep State Championships, Nathan Benderson Park April 26-27

    • *USRowing Southeast Regional Championships, Lake Lanier, GA May 10-11

    • *Schedule Note: Rowers are expected to be at NBP on Friday at noon for Sculling & Sweep State Championships and Southeast Regionals

    • Race fees have been able to be lowered because we budgeted for all races. We are unable to decrease the amount if a rower chooses not to make a race. We do not allow families to pick and choose which races they want to pay for as we plan for the entire team attending to keep the prices down.

     

Southeast Regionals marks the end of the regular season. Boats and athletes that qualify for Youth Nationals will be invited to participate in an extended post season that concludes with racing at Youth Nationals. The post season will be charged separately.

Fall 2024 Regular Season for High School Novice Team at Nathan Benderson Park

  • 8th-12 graders (8th graders are welcome to do a  trial period with our novice team or row with our middle school program).
  • September 30th - December 14
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 4:00-7:00 and Saturday from 7-10:30
  • No practice Thanksgiving Week
  • Primarily rowed in 8's
Price: $1,200.00

Fall Races 2024 - Due October 4, 2024

High School Team

The following races are included in the fee. All races must be paid for together. You may not pick and choose races. If you are unable to attend a race you should tell a coach asap but you will not receive a refund or credit. We keep race fees as low as possible by combining fees:

Halloween Regatta, Tampa, FL - October 26th
Race at NBP, Sarasota, FL - November 16th
Winter Sprints, Sarasota, FL - December 7th
Sarasota Crew Intrasquad Regatta, Sarasota, FL - December 14th

Not included in the race fees but we have a boys 8+ and girls 8+ qualified to race is the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA October 18-19.

Spring Season Tuition 2025: $1,850

High School Team - 8th graders are welcome to try. There will be a 2-week trial period for 8th graders interested in joining the Novice team. 

Novice (new rowers). This can be 8th graders moving up from our middle school program, 8th graders who have rowed with other programs, or any 9th-12th graders who are new to rowing or our high school team.

Practice in the fall for our Novice Team is Monday, Wednesday, Friday (4 pm to 7 pm) and Saturday (7:00 am to 10:30 am). 

Spring race fees are not included in the program fee. Spring race fees will be collected at the beginning of February.
