Small Boat Camp - Thanksgiving Week 2022
When: Sunday, November 20 - Wednesday, November 23 at Nathan Benderson Park
Who: Rowers from high school programs who are looking to improve their technical ability. We are looking for a range of abilities and plan to serve all. Limit of 32 participants: 8 who are racing at a top level, 8 who are proficient with some racing experience, 8 with limited sculling experience and 8 who are much newer to small boat work but looking to gain invaluable experience in a short period of time. We will keep the coach to athlete ratio at about 4:1 to foster the perfect learning environment.
Racing Opportunity: The Head of the 941 is hosted on Saturday and Sunday, November 19-20 with U19 1x's and 2-'s being raced on Sunday, November 20. Camp will first meet later in the day on Sunday the 20th. We can help with equipment for the race if you are interested in combining the experiences!
What's Included:
Rowing exclusively in 1x's and 2-'s multiple times a day at the world class Nathan Benderson Park.
Mobility education sessions.
Lifting education sessions.
Mental health sessions.

Take Away: Leave knowing limiting factors in your rowing stroke and your strengths and weaknesses as a rower. You will receive a true evaluation that you will be able to take home with you knowing the standards.
2022 Camp Staff is still growing but here's who is coming back again this year!
Jesse Foglia - Coach Foglia has been an Assistant Coach with the Harvard men for five years. He also serves at the Head Coach for the USA U23 Men's National Team and coached the USA Men's 4- at the 2022 World Rowing Championships. He has led medal winning crews with the U19 Junior National Team, Columbia Lightweights, Bates College and Three Rivers Rowing.
Caitlin McClain - Coach McClain is the Head Coach at Seattle Pacific University. She has coached within the USA U19 Women's National Team for many summers, most recently serving at the Women's Head Coach in the summers of 2021 and 2022. McClain led Holy Names Academy in Seattle for many years turning it into one of the most competitive women's youth programs in the country in both sweep and sculling.
Rick Brown - Coach Brown led camps for the junior national team for 11 years before joining Sarasota Crew as the Director of Operations. He has coached at every level of the U19 National Team system, most recently serving as the Director of the Olympic Development Camp for 150 girls from across the country. He led junior clubs at Three Rivers Rowing (Pittsburgh, PA) and Rogue Rowing (Ashland, OR) with great success and several national medal boats in small boats.

Cost: $1,900 includes lodging, meals, equipment, coaching.
$1,700 includes equipment and coaching and limited food. Please use the code "Thanks2022" at checkout if you will not be choosing the camp's housing/food option and have your own. This will provide you the $1,700 fee.
Hotel: Homewood Suites, 305 N. Cattleman Rd, Sarasota, FL 34235. You will stay here if we house you. Hotel is right next to Nathan Benderson Park and a convenient walk to Target and other stores. You will likely share a room (suite set-up) with other rowers of the same sex.
Flights: We can help with pickups and drop offs to SRQ (Sarasota airport).
