Sarasota Crew is supported largely by parent volunteer efforts. We hold parent meetings so that parents are well informed on program information, ways to get involved and have a chance to meet each other to provide support for a better environment for their kids. Parent meetings are scheduled at the beginning of the Fall and Spring Seasons and additionally as needed. Board Members, CEO, Head Coach, the Team Administrator and all parents are urged to attend.
The Parent meetings agenda typically covers Sarasota crew philosophy, goals, communications, expectations, attendance, regattas/schedules, general communications, who to contact, parking/pick-up, payments, weather, waivers, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities. Sarasota Crew has very few employees and it is essential to our culture and operations that we have parents volunteering for the many areas we need assistance with. Whatever your skill set, we have a place for you to help.
Listed below are the different ways you can help. Per our parent/rower agreement, each Rower Family is required to volunteer 10 hours/semester/athlete. For more information contact the committee chairs:

Volunteer Committee Chair Responsibilities
- Attend Parent Meetings and be prepared to give a 1-2 minute update to the parents as needed during the meeting.
- Oversee the functions of your committee and enlist other parent volunteers.
- Communicate with the Team Administrator to ensure that all efforts are coordinated and task are covered.
- Sarasota Crew email is a great way for the distribution of information. All emails should be sent to the Team Administrator for distribution.
- Any event that requires a coach's participation requires their approval prior to scheduling the event.
- Take home flyers should be approved by the Team Administrator or Program Director before distribution.
- Receive prior approval of any financial expenses from the administration.
- Make sure that you thank your volunteers with written emails or thank you notes.
- Write a brief evaluation of your committee at year-end and forward the binder to the office for the next year committee chair.
